Learn how to make doll clothes from a designer who has:

  • the most published doll sewing books
  • produced designs for Azone International

  • done a lot of other creative ventures!

March 2021, Graphic-sha & Taeko Sekiguchi are bringing you a new book called: Basics of Making Doll Clothes.

The book will introduce you to the basic tools & techniques you’ll need to make clothes for your 1/6 scale dolls.

The components of the book include 3 skills levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced

The beginner’s chapter covers topics like fabric, cutting, sewing with a machine, hand stitching and more.

The intermediate chapter covers topics like pin tucks, collars,  sleeves and more.

And the advanced chapter covers topics like handling various pockets, attaching fasteners, pleated skirts and more.

The outfits created from the book will fit dolls sized 22cm to 27cm but the technique can be applied to a variety of doll sizes.

I was so keyed up after seeing the announcement about the book, that I placed my pre-order in a flash!

I’m pumped about this book!

I can’t wait to learn & practice the dolly techniques Sekiguchi has shared in the book.

I’m counting down the days until mid-March 🙂

I would love to have a book like this, but it looks like it’s in Japanese, which I can’t read. Is the text also in English or only in Japanese?

      Hi Elizabeth,

The book is in Japanese only.

But with help of the Google app and other translation tools you can kind of piece the instructions together — that’s assuming the pictures are clear.

If you decide to get the book and need any help, we’re just a click away 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment,

I definitely want this, but I’ve decided to wait on ordering any dolly books until Japan resumes more shipping options. DHL is okay for dolls, but for less expensive items I don’t want to pay more in shipping then the item costs! LoL

      Totally understandable Jessica.

Hopefully more shipping options will come available.

Thanks you for taking the time to chat with me about the Basics of Making Doll Clothes book,
      Tatyana
