Be My Baby! Cherry Marshmallow by miyuking

10/06/2017 By dollface 7 Comments

Have you ever seen a doll announcement and knew right from the start that you were not ordering her/him.

Your mind’s set that it’s not the doll for you.

You even write a long mental list of reasons why the doll won’t be joining your dolly crew:

  • I don’t like her one bit, she’s not my type
  • I can do without her
  • I don’t need her right now
  • I don’t like her face
  • Not feeling the clothes

You breathe a sigh of relief and thank the dolly heavens because this time around your wallet is spared from the potential assault.

But a few hours past, you go back and check her product page, the feelings you initially had are the same.

A couple of days later you find yourself frequently visiting her product page in between tasks.

What’s Going On Here?

You have a change of heart and the things you thought you disliked about the doll end up being the very reasons why you need to own her.

This recently happened to me.

I was looking at Hobby Japan’s website to see which dolls would be featured and sold from the upcoming Dollybird issue; Dollybird Vol 26.

It was then that I stumbled across this strange and unique girl named, be my baby! Cherry ‘marshmallow’ (aka b.m.b. Cherry ‘marshmallow’).

Marshmallow was designed by miyuking.

You may remember miyuking because she collaborated with Blythe and Momoko.

  • Neo Blythe Margo Unique Girl (2012)
  • Middie Blythe Melanie Ubique Girl (2015)
  • PW-momoko ae Risa Nakamura (2016)

It turns out miyuking has been busy creating her very own brand of custom one of a kind dolls named, be my baby! Cherry (aka b.m.b. Cherry)

This line launched in 2015 with the help of crowd funding.

Getting your hands on a b.m.b. Cherry doll can be a challenge.

miyuking’s dolls are exclusive to Japan, can be pretty pricey and when she posts a doll for sale, they usually disappear within a blink of an eye.

In June 2017 a b.m.b. Cherry sold for ¥50,000 about $446. It had 18 bids!

To fans delight, Dollybird will mass produce be my baby! Cherry ‘marshmallow’ so more collectors can have the chance of adding this exclusive doll to their collection.

I’m going to be honest with you, when I first saw this announcement, it wasn’t love at first sight.

I was 100% convinced that I didn’t like her:

  • Why does she have worrisome lips?
    • Did she just receive bad news, like her favorite cupcake shop is closing
  • What’s up with the deer in the headlights stare?
    • Is she scared, nervous or both
  • The only redeemable feature is her hair and that’s it

But as you already are aware, the very traits I disliked ended up being the very things I admire!

I can’t explain what’s so captivating about her.

be my baby! Cherry ‘marshmallow’ has a mysterious personality and I sense a bit of innocence.

Now I view her once worrisome lips as part of her feminine charm.

Her deer in the headlights stare has transformed into a look of curiosity and wonderment for the world.

Her ombre hair color is breathtakingly gorgeous.

And when you add her playful sweet sheer gown, she is a girl who just wants to be loved!

be my baby! cherry Marshmallow

This is obviously a story I made up and most likely isn’t anywhere close to miyuking original concept for the doll.

However I think having the freedom to let your imagination run wild is one of the great joys of the doll hobby.

Now that I’m honest with my feelings, there is one issue that causes me or I should say my wallet, to hesitate.

This beauty who won me over costs ¥38,880 yen about $346.

If I end up getting her she will be the most I’ve spent for a single doll! :O

I can already hear some of you saying “That’s a decent price” while others are probably experiencing sticker shock like I was and have a facial expression like marshmallow :).

Is it okay to splurge on a doll?

I know this is a question one has to ask oneself.

For me, I’m throwing logic out the window.

be my baby! Cherry ‘marshmallow’ has broken down my resistance and I know, I will be unable to resist her.

be my baby! Cherry ‘marshmallow’ Ordering Details:

be my baby! Cherry ‘marshmallow’ will come out Summer 2018!

When you order her she will arrive with a pair of grey Mary Jane heels.

Pre-orders begin September 29, 2017 and will end December 22, 2017.

It’s great news, that pre-orders are open for a long time, since it gives collectors time to decide on whether to order or not.

The hardest part, waiting for summer 2018 to arrive!

You will need to use a proxy service to pre-order this girl.

Not sure which proxy service to use?

We recommend From Japan (affiliate link) or White Rabbit Express. We had no issues with either proxy.

I’m guessing she’s a vinyl doll? I couldn’t see any jointing on her so I’m assuming her body will be more in the style of Blythe in that it’s all just one piece, no posing ability?

I think she’s interesting because she’s unique. You don’t often see a wistful expression on dolls. They’re usually always happy. This expression is a lovely change. It is quite costly though. I’ll enjoy her from afar.

Let us know if you end up being able to her.

      Hi Alasse Carnesir,

Her legs caught my attention too.

I’m not sure what type of body she has, she might be vinyl like you said.

I will certainly let you know if I take the plunge on ordering her. 🙂

Thanks for chatting with me about this unique girl.

    Hey Marna Levin,

I fear Marshmallow maybe my gateway doll that will eventually lead me down a path towards expensive and even more irresistible dolls. xD

Thanks for sharing the proxy services with us. 🙂

I will definitely check them out.

One can never have too many proxies in their back pocket.

Also thanks for the tip about checking their fees, you are right, fees do start to add up >.<

I appreciate you taking the time to chat with me about Be My Baby! Cherry Marshmallow!

She’s a very different looking doll, but she does look interesting to me & I can understand wanting her. I wish I could say that $346.00 was the most I had ever spent on one doll, but unfortunately I can’t LOL. I usually use Noppin as my proxy service https://www.noppin.com/ & I’ve also used Goody Japan https://www.goody-japan.com/. Before you pick a proxy service to use, make sure you research their fees, because they can really add up, & you’ll find yourself paying a lot more money for the doll than you thought you were going to.
