It was the summer of 2017 when I first discovered Amazon Japan’s Global Program.
Yes, I heard about collectors ordering from Amazon Japan before.
But I figured they were superhuman.
For me, being an average human, ordering from Amazon Japan would be too hard.
And way too expensive.
Having to deal with the YEN to USD conversion and credit card fees.
So I decided to skip over ordering from the site.
I convinced myself it wasn’t right for me and to stick with my usual hobby shops.
It wasn’t until October 2017 that Amazon Japan grabbed my attention again.
I stumbled onto an awesome detailed walk-through, with pictures.
This walk-through took me from picking a item all the way through to checkout.
After reading through the steps, I thought “maybe you don’t have to be superhuman to order from the site after all.”
And with that, I decided to give Amazon Japan a try.
I didn’t know what I wanted to order.
So I began my journey with the walk-through step: Checking out / signing up a new Amazon.co.jp membership
And continued to the step: Entering a new address
After I created my account, I started remembering the dolly books I had my eyes on.
So I started adding Dollybird and doll pattern books into my Amazon wishlist.
And thanks to Amazon’s feature: Customers who bought this item also bought . . . I became a woman possessed.
It was such a rush adding all those wonderful books to my wishlist.
It took me a few hours to come down from my wishlist high.
Time to Place an Order
On November 30, 2017, I was ready to place my first order.
I remember how the designer of Harmonia bloom shared her purchase of how-to dolly books.

She had one book I always wanted to checkout. It had an adorable Pullip on the cover and I was always curious to know what was inside.
So I returned to Halcyon Realms’ step-by-step guide and picked up where I left off.
I completed all the remaining steps.
My 1st order was complete.
I ordered the 2014 book, Classical Style Doll Coordinate Recipe.
I received a confirmation email immediately.
And within a matter days, I received my shipping notification from DHL . . . my order has shipped!
Shopping on Amazon Japan was so amazingly simple
Why did I ever convince myself it was going to be hard?!
The Classical Style Doll Coordinate Recipe book arrived on December 4, 2017 (it made a great early birthday present!)
I love shopping on Amazon Japan.
It’s so nice to have another reliable place to buy Japanese collectibles and other goods.
If you’re like me and you convinced yourself that shopping at Amazon Japan is impossible . . . do yourself a favor and push past those limiting beliefs.
It’s so easy to shop there (which may or may not be good for your wallet).
I love how fast my items arrive. AWESOME!
No waiting 3-4 weeks for my package to arrive from Japan.
Even though Amazon ships their packages using an express method, it cost the same amount as SAL from other hobby shops.
Shopping on Amazon Japan has opened up a whole new world for me.
You, your dolls and your collection deserve to give Amazon Japan a try.
There’s so many amazing goodies waiting for you.
But be warned!
It’s highly addictive shopping on Amazon Japan.
On December 13, 2017, I placed another order for a dolly book.
That second purchase made me realize how addictively simple shopping in Japan is.
