I knew it was going to happen . . . It was inevitable.
With each new doll I welcome home, I had to find a place to store another accessory, hands and a booklet.
I only have so much space to work with.
And at some point, I was going to run out of room.
I’m not complaining.
I love dolls and the added accessories & hands that come with them.
But I can’t add anything more to my dolly drawer.
It’s to the point, that whenever I want to change a doll’s hands or comb her hair I dread opening the dolly draw for fear of everything tumbling out.
My Dolly Dream Room
My dwindling space, got me thinking about ways to organize my dolls’ accessories & extra dolly goodies.
And I soon found myself daydreaming of what my ultimate dolly room would look like.
A huge room, dedicated to my passion . . . dolls.
A place to store all my dolly clothes and accessories.
I’d even have a section to store all my dolly related things like books, tools & art supplies.
My own dolly hangout!
Though I’m painfully aware that my dream isn’t coming true anytime soon.
I still want to make small strides to help it along.
So my 1st step, is finding a solution for all my doll hands.
Getting the Hands in Order
There are many different types of containers to keep dolly hands in.
But I remember a video by Eileen of Dolly Treasures.
And in the video, there was a cute box with compartments.
Inside the compartments were all the Little Mischiefs’ hands, neatly stored away.
I liked the box.
It was reasonably sized and cute.
And I could find a similar box at the Container Store.
I did a quick estimate on how many hands I currently had and how many I may have in the future.
That estimated number gave me an idea on how many slots my box needed to have.
I choose a Clear Box Compartment.
It has 18 slots.
More than enough for my needs.
The compartments are quite deep about 1.5”.
Which means I can pile even more hands into each slot!
First Step Taken to Making the Dolly Dream Come True
I love how the hands look in the box.
So neat and organized.
Now whenever I want to change my dolly’s hands . . . I can easily find the style I want without having to wade through a pile of dolly clothes, booklets and miscellaneous items.
Having my hands in order is one small step in getting organized and getting my dolly dream room.
My next step is to finding an easy solution to storing the dolly clothes.

Wow so many hands.
Is it possible to change hands for a Momoko (girl) doll? And if so, how do I do it?
Hi Nati,
That’s a good question.
Momoko’s hands can’t be exchanged.
But the boys, Eight & Nine, hands can be changed out.
If you have any additional questions please feel free to ask 🙂
Thank you 🙂
You’re welcome
Neat idea! A box like this would definitely help keep hands (or eyes, or fiddly little accessories. . . ) nicely organized. I’ll have to keep it in mind when my collection outgrows my current drawer set.
Hello River,
I am glad you found the article helpful.
It’s amazing how quickly doll collection/organization can get out of hand 😉

This is a great idea! My dolls hands and feet are still in the plastic bags and I don’t know where they are at the moment. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of this myself since I already use these same small boxes to store all of my dolls shoes and for their clothes I use the larger Christmas ornament boxes with dividers.
Hi Melissa B,
Thank you for the suggestion.
Using a Christmas ornament box is another great idea.
I’m happy to hear you found the article helpful.
I’ll keep my eyes peeled during the holiday season for the ornament boxes.
I appreciate you taking the time leave a comment.

I don’t have may doll hands because I don’t have very many vinyl figures with chargeable hands short of one Azone boy and Nenodroids. I keep them all in the original boxes and the Azone doll is out but his accessories are packed away in his box.
However, I have lots of BJD clothes, accessories and wigs and each one is in a different kind of container. Clothes are in the plastic storage dressers you can get from Walmart and separated by size. All of my wigs are in a deep plastic container, still in their original packaging so they will not get damaged while being stored.
Hi FairyPink,
Thank you for sharing your tips on organizing clothes, wigs and accessories.
I’ll keep a look out for the plastic storage dressers you mention.
I certainly need to get the dolly clothes and accessories sorted & organized 😉
