To inspire you to make something for your doll during our May Dolly Makes Giveaway.
I’m coming at you with another Dolly Make Inspo!
This time the inspiration is actually a how-to video posted by Samsally UnderOrange on making Necklaces for BJDs’ and Smartdolls.
She showed how-to make several necklaces, but the one that caught my attention was a suspended necklace. I was super excited to see one on Anna.
So I gave it a try.
You’ll Need:
- Bead(s)
- Chain
- Jump Rings
- Eye Pins
- Wire Cutters
- Needle Nose Pliers
- Round Nose Pliers
- Ruler
How-To
This was my first time giving my all to wrapping wire around beads.
I had kits for making jewelry but I didn’t put the time or enough into making something until now.
My first dolly attempt wasn’t quite like I wanted.
Anna looks great (such a wonderful model) but . . .
I felt the necklace was a bit too long and I wasn’t thrilled how my loop turned out (Anna loves it though 🥲)
The issue occurred because I couldn’t figure out how to make loops.
In Samsally UnderOrange’s video, her hands went off screen (she hadn’t realized that had happened until after filming) so I couldn’t see how the loops were being made.
I had to do some research and I watched several videos to understand how to make a simple loop (it looked simple but I had a heck of a time getting my loop to look round and straight)
I kept practicing until I had a loop I felt good about.
So I made a 2nd necklace for Anna.
The length is better and my loop is a bit better too (I give myself a big A for Effort on this project)
With practice I’m sure I’ll get the hang of making loops.
But for now, Anna is enjoying her necklaces and I’m giving my fingers a much needed break.
We look forward to seeing your Dolly Makes this Month!
