Entry #2
Dear Dolly Friends,
Today we’re preparing the material.
I started by cutting the paper pattern, than I traced the pattern onto the outer and lining fabric.
After that I cut the fabric pieces.
I had to be very careful when cutting the lining piece because I noticed it shifting as I was cutting.
I finished the day by adding fray check to the edges of both pieces.
Dritz Fray Check is quite messy and spreads 🙁

I skipped the applique step, my hand sewing skills aren’t that great, yet.
If you’re adding embroidery/applique to your dress, this is the day to apply the decorations.

Then I cut out the paper pattern and since my chosen fabric was not wide enough to accommodate the whole pattern, divided the pattern at the shoulder.
I decided not to applique since the fabric I chose (vintage yukata remnant) is just so lovely and bright by itself.
I treated the edges with fray check.gurliebot

The yukata remnant is soo beautiful ?. Keep up the great work. -Kat & Tatyana

Just wanted to say that June Taylor Fray Block tends to dry a bit more clear and a lot less crispy than fray check.
Hi Bobbi,
Thank you for the recommendation!
It’s great to hear that there is an alternative to Dritz.
I’m looking forward to giving it a try.
