It’s nice to see you again! This week’s Friday Dolly Question is a good one.

Our answer: The longest we’ve had to wait for a doll was 11 months. The doll we waited for was Harmonia humming Hatsune Miku

Can’t wait to hear your answer and find out which doll you waited for.
Hi Kat!
It’s been fun chatting with you about preorders and lucky finds!
I realized that my last comment was unclear. 🤦♀️ Just to clarify: The Volks SD and various American dolls did NOT come from bargain stores, only the Pullips and Jun Planning dolls. You never know what you’ll find there, though, so maybe someday. . . ?

😆 🤪
No worries, that’s on me too 🤦♀️
I’m over here thinking I need hit up a Tuesday morning ASAP!!! 😂
That would be a super insane find though . . . one can hope

My longest pre-order so far was three months, which is a standard time for large-sized Withdolls, but it’s going to be beaten by my current Nendoroid Dolls pre-order, which started Feb 28, and they will be arriving in December.
I am a very slow person. Bad for decision-making, but it makes waiting for dolly pre-orders much easier. I vastly prefer the certainty and long wait to the stress of trying to secure a new release before it sells out, failing and having to search for it on second-hand market for decent price, with no guarantee of success, and for much longer than a pre-order would take. Sometimes, doll hunts like this can be fun, but when it’s a doll I really, really want, I find them rather stressful.
I mostly collect Japanese and Korean dolls, but I’m from EU, so the difference between timezones is another complication when it comes to things that sell out fast. So I’m really grateful that Azone is switching to pre-orders for more dolls.
When I pre-order a BJD on a body I already have in my collection, I try to use the wait-time to sew some clothes for her.
Heyo Neon,
The dolly wait begins!
How is that the tiny dolls take the longest . . . looking at you GoodSmile 🤣
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience about pre-order dolls!

The longest I waited for a doll was eleven years. She was on my wishlist for a long time. It took years for me to find her at a good price on the secondary market and save up my money. I received my doll yesterday and will post photos once I’ve done sewing clothes for them. It’s a doll that I’m customizing myself to look like one of my fave anime characters. It took awhile to save up and work on her that’s for sure.
Oops, I realized this was about preordering. My bad.
No need for apologizes, you shared a very beautiful story with us that I wouldn’t have heard other wise 💖
~Kat
Congrats Dakota on welcoming your doll home!!! 🎉
Wow what a story 😯
11 years is a long time coming.
I’m so glad to hear that you two were destined for each other.
It’s also cool to hear that your customizing it yourself!
We would really love to Say Hi! to this special doll and would like to highlight your Make too!
Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Eleven months is a long time! Was she delayed or was that the original estimate?
I’ve never preordered a doll. The dolls I have now were lucky encounters and they came home with me right away.
That said, Azone and GoodSmile seem to do a lot of preorders, so I’ve imagined what it would be like. It’s nice to think that you’re reserving a doll in advance, so you’ll definitely get one. But the waiting period. . . it seems daunting. . . . Any advice on handling the waiting period?
No, fortunately there were no delays, but looking back on it, 14 months is an insanely long period 😣
Whoa seriously River, you haven’t pre-ordered a doll?
You ARE lucky to not have to deal with the preorder wait time.
Now I’m envisioning what that feels like to have a doll on demand . . . bet that’s nice!
That’s a good question!
With many doll announcement take place during the year, I find the announcements make for a great distraction to hold me over till my doll arrives.
What type of dolls do you like to collect.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience about pre-order dolls!

Hi Kat!
That’s good advice! Checking the announcements and making crafts for dollies at home seems like a good way to pass the time. Plus, Hina-chan, Anna, and your other girls must be happy to be spoiled.
Yes, I’ve been very lucky so far! Sometimes Tuesday Morning or other bargain stores have Japanese doll brands. I’ve got a mini Pullip and two Jun Planning Ai dolls from there, as well as a Volks Super Dollfie (who still needs restringing. . . . ). And some other American brands’ dolls too.
Lately I’m getting more interested in PureNeemo, Dollchu, and Momoko. So I may join a preorder at some point. . . .
Thanks for chatting!
River
Those are some great scores!
No probably, it’s always fun 😃
