Noix is part of Azone’s new original series, Iris Collect.

We first saw Noix at Doll Show 50 Early Summer.
And many fans were jumping with excitement when they first saw her.
Why you may ask?
It’s because of her beautiful eyes.
They’re special 18mm acrylic eyes by Obitsu.
That’s right, they’re NOT the standard Azone International decal/painted eyes.
Azone fans are not the only ones excited about the changes with the eyes.
Other doll collectors, who usually pass on Azone dolls due to the decal eyes, are excited about Noix too.
Noix is a sweet girl. I love her innocent style & personality.
She’s a girl who loves to read and that fact is another reason why I adore her so much.
Azone is stepping up their game in the arena of large scale dolls and this has caused my wallet to panic 😉
But this maybe part of Azone’s master plan (thanks John).
So gotta find a way to ease my wallet’s worry while trying to bring home all these adorable dolls (it’s becoming to hard to resist them).

Iris Collect is the 2nd new Azone Original series unveiled this year.
The first being Alvastaria.
It’s wonderful to see Azone continuing to expand and grow their brand.
While others are staying static or slowing down, Azone is on a path that is taking off in a big way.
There’s no telling what President Tadashi Hayazono and the Azone team has in store for us in the next few years.
But for now, this maybe the greatest time to be an Azone fan.

I pre-ordered mine from Amiami, It sold out in 1 minute. How many dolls do you think Azone produced? I am not used to Azone big dolls, but I have noticed that when you preorder an item from Amiami, system add it into your watch list, and you can see how many people have added the same item to their watch list over the preorder button. Yesterday, by the time it sold out, only 2 people had added the doll to their watch list. So how many dolls Azone really produced?

I suspect that Azone produced a small quantity of Noix.
They probably wanted to see how popular she would be with collectors.
Something similar happened with the Hetalia The World Twinkle doll, Japan.
He sold out quick but came back in stock a few times.
Azone may do the same thing with Noix.

Gosh I was surprised when I was browsing through her images at hobby search site. I just wish I can buy her (but insufficient fund for me TwT). I guess I’ll wait and save for Hoshino Moka to be released with those acrylic eyes (I indeed love Moka for her lovely lips).

It certainly would be interesting to see one of the Happiness Clover girls with acrylic eyes.
Who knows . . . Maybe if the Iris Collect series is successful enough you’ll get your wish and Azone will update Moka’s style with the acrylic eyes.

😀 welllll I missed the pre-order… I was at work. But hey, at least my bank manager will sleep better tonight ;p. Annnnd there’s always Mandarake… give it a few months and ”un-used, damaged box” will appear 🙂
I’ve always wondered why Azone never gave their bigger dolls these sorts of eyes, particularly with Obitsu and Volks being big competition with their big vinyl dolls. Plus these types of eyes open up the ability to customise. I was never interested in Azone’s bigger dolls because the eyes were decal eyes so you couldn’t change them out really, at least, not easily. So it’s nice to see they’re heading in a new direction. I rather like the face sculpts of their big dolls. Wish you could get the heads separately though. They use an Obitsu body which I already have but it’d be nice to have some floating head options.

Hmm, we may never know why Azone waited to offer these types of eyes for their dolls but it’s great to see that they’re expanding into this area of the doll market, finally.
They’re adding a bit of excitement to the community.
I know you collect BJDs as well. What are your thoughts about the 18mm eyes? Do you find them a bit big for her face?

I actually don’t mind the eye size for her face. It gives her a rather innocent sweet look. You can also get anime eyes that are more round than oval. I have some currently in my big Obitsu girl. She wears a 20mm.
Eyes for BJDs tend to be more realistic (unless you buy the resin dolls that are more anime in style and look of course) but for the most part, most BJDs are more realistic looking so these sorts of eyes aren’t normally used with them unless you’re going for an anime style. I have a lot of big BJDs (60cm – 70cm) and they wear between 10mm – 18mm eyes and it looks fine on them.
You could try putting 16mm in the Azone dolls. They might be a bit smaller and show more of the white but if that’s what people are going for then it could be fine. Most times, I’ve found that eyes are more of a trial and error thing with dolls. You just have to try different sizes out to see which one fits the best for what you want.

I see why people love customizing so much. The possibilities are endless.
So I take it Noix has the anime style eyes you mention.
Since we can’t see much of the whites of her eyes.
I hadn’t paid that much attention to the eyes of Azone’s larger dolls before but now with Noix and the info you shared I’m becoming more aware of them.

Did you know that Noix means nut in French? I smiled the first time I saw her name ^^
Well jock aside I really love that kind of eyes but I find them a bit too big to be honest. It’s kinda weird. That’s mainly why I will not buy her (and also because my wallet cries “No! no! and no! You already purchased Mocha Hidamari no Waltz and a BJD that’s enough now!” everytime too… XD) So… it’s a heartbreaking but I will pass my turn this time. Maybe this new collection will propose other models that I can’t resist! I’m really excited!

That’s very interesting that you prefer different size eyes for her too.
I wonder if collectors of BJDs or customizers are more aware of how the different sizes of eyes will affect Noix’s appearance.
Now I wonder what she’ll look like with a different eye size.
Azone will probably introduce more Iris Collect characters.
Will the series have 1 additional friend like the Ellen series or will we get 5 additional characters like the Happiness Clover series?
It will be fun to watch the series unfold.

Is she rooted or wigged, I wonder? I love Obitsu’s anime eyes, but 18mm look a little on the big side for her – think she might look better with 16mm. Which could be a pain if her hair is rooted!
Not sure I like Noix enough to be tempted, but am interested to see how this series develops!
