What Is Dollfie Water Wax?
Dollfie Water Wax is a water base wax used to smooth & style doll’s hair/wig.
I have dolls with wavy textured hair & others with straight hair and while I love all my dolls dearly their hair drives me crazy, at times.
Because within minutes of combing their hair & playing with them, the hair becomes unruly.
And it’s a challenge to photograph the dolls & get the cute dolly scene because there’s flyaway strands all over the place ruining the shot!
Professional doll photographer & photographer for Azone International,
五十嵐 椛 (Momiji), uses Azone Doll Styling Wax to style her dolls’ hair.
Unfortunately, Azone hasn’t offered the wax for sale in a very long time.
VOLKS Water Wax came highly recommended as an alternative to Azone’s wax.
So I decided to give it a try . . . my model is the precious Lil’ Fairy Illumie.
You may remember Illumie from Let’s Meet Lil’ Fairy Illumie review we did recently.
She has wavy texture hair that doesn’t like to lay flat or in place.
What I Like About the Water Wax
Tames the Unruly Hair – The wax does a good job at smoothing down the hair including the pesky flyaways.
What was once wavy & wild is now smooth & manageable.
It makes the hair relax and flowy-like.
It’s Water Soluble – the wax dissolves in water so it’s safe to use on doll wigs. So, if at anytime, I don’t like the wax in the hair I can easily wash it out with water.
I Dislike Surprised Me About the Wax
It’s a cream. I was expecting the water wax to be hard and waxy but it’s smooth and creamy.
It has a smell. It smells like a face cream or sunscreen.
The smell isn’t too overwhelming or too unbearable . . . but if you have a sensitivity to smells, like I do, then it may irritate your sinuses a little.
Luckily, the smell dissipates over time.
Harmia’s Likes & Dislikes
I need to try the water wax first before giving my opinion.
I look gorgeous . . . I like the water wax!
My main concern with my dollies’ hair, were the flyaways and how the hair wouldn’t lay flat after brushing/combing it.
It didn’t take a lot of Dollife Water Wax to eliminate these issues.
As VOLKS says on their website: “A little bit of wax will go a long way.”
I’m happy with the results I got from applying the Dollfie Water Wax to my girls hair and I can’t wait to apply it to the rest of my dolly crew.
I don’t know much about styling dolly hair but with this wax and a few styling techniques, I’ll have the tools needed to create some stunning & amazing dolly hairstyles in the future.
