I hope my entry follows the rules, being that I uploaded a collage. If it doesn’t, I can send just the first picture that has the required information in it. Thank you so much for this contest by the way.💕 I absolutely love sewing for my dolls, especially making miniature versions of clothes I love. The contest gave me motivation to start a new project so thank you. Good luck to everyone~
Hi Jodi L,
Your entry was submitted correctly.
We’re happy to hear the giveaway gave you the motivation to start a new project 😃
Thanks for entering
Hi Jodi!
Lovely job with your project! The tiny print is just perfect, the matching bow and tote bag are so cute, and Blythe looks gorgeous all dressed up. Is it inspired by a dress by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright?
River
River-
Thank you so much. Yes, it’s a dress by Baby, the stars shine bright. I’m so happy someone recognized it. I printed the fabric on a small scale and dyed the trims to match the original the best I could. 🙂
Hi Jodi!
You did an amazing job bringing a BtSSB design to life! It’s such a nice tribute to their designs. I’m a fan of Baby too, so I’m really happy to see a miniature version. 💖

Hi Fee Berger!
The dress you made is beautiful! Adding frills to lengthen the sleeves and skirt is a great idea, it looks so nice as a maxi dress. I love the color palette and the little fox in the print, and the details like the matching lace on the headband and skirt too. (^_^)
River
Oops! I meant to reply to Fee Berger’s comment. Is there anyway to change it? 🤦♀️ Or should I make another comment?
No worries.
Thanks for letting us know, River.
I adjusted the comment to reflect the change.
Thank you for fixing my mistake, Tatyana! I really appreciate it! (^_^)
River
Hi River, sorry I’ve only just seen your comment. Thank you so much for your kind words!
I have forgot to write that this dress was made from my old worn leggings 😀 I try not to throw away clothes where the fabric has a clear interesting pattern. This is how most of my dolly witchy dresses are made ^^
Hi Sayomi,
Stellar job on your May Dolly Make!
Thank you for entering the giveaway.
Hi Sayomi!
The dress you made is so pretty! And that’s a great way to reuse clothing. I do the same thing – if an old piece of clothing has a small enough pattern, it gets added to the “dolly clothes” fabric. (^_^)

For my May Dolly Makes I made my Smart Doll, Fionna, a dress for the spring/summer season. I didn’t follow a tutorial/pattern. I up-cycled a kid dress, taking it apart and then reworking it in to a dolly dress! I used some of the original structure of the kid dress such as the skirt, which didn’t change except to be gathered more at the waist. Most of the work went into making the top and then figuring out how to attach the top to the skirt without making the waist to bulky. I also made her a matching choker, headband and sandles to complete the look! All the trimmings on the dress and the ribbon for the accessories came from the original kid dress. I’m super proud of myself for actually getting this outfit done. 😊
Hi Mikayla,
Outstanding job on your May Dolly Make!
We received your entry 🙂
Thank you for entering the giveaway.
Hi Mikayla!
Fionna looks ready for summer in her new outfit! The matching headband, choker, and sandles are so cute and really pull the outfit together. I’m impressed you made the dress without a pattern, it looks professional! How did you figure out the bodice?
River
Hi River!
The bodice is just a basic sleeveless top with front darts for shaping. The darts were the biggest pain. I had to do one side, it felt like a million times, before it layed right. The bodice actually kinda looks like a miniature version of what the bigger dress looked like because I basically put the trim back were it was originally. I wish I had gotten a picture of the original dress before I took it apart, but I never think to take before pictures 😅 The bodice is lined because the white and blue trim at the top goes between the front and back piece. Then the checkered trim just borders the top. (I think the trim actually does a lot for the bodice). I ended up layering the bodice on top of the skirt and sewing them together, then using a tie from the dress to make a middle “belt” instead of finishing the edges, because it was would have been to bulky with all the fabric layers.
Hi Mikayla!
Thanks for explaining your process to make the bodice! It turned out so well! You shared a lot of great tips too, like layering the bodice over the skirt to reduce bulk and adding a belt to finish the edges. Bonus – the belt gives it a polished look too!
Darts are tricky, but you did a great job persevering through them, they look professional.
I love hearing how other crafters approach their projects, so I really appreciate that you took the time to share your experience. Thank you again!
River
Wonderful idea! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s projects! ✨
My BJD was packed away awaiting restringing until this week. I finally restrung her! This challenge will be the perfect motivation to get started on a project for her. 🪡 🧵 👒
And Miu is adorable. I love her sweet smile. (◕‿◕✿)
Managed to finish in time. Whew! 😅
I made the Huge Hat from Hanon -arrangement- pattern book by Satomi Fujii. The pattern is sized for Blythe, so it fits other dolls with 9 – 10″ heads like Volks SD Nana. It’s muslin with a plaited ribbon hatband and scrap flower decoration, so it’s perfect for summer days! 👒
Thank you again Kat and Tatyana for hosting May Dolly Makes Giveaway! It was just the push I needed to get back into crafting. And it’s such a fun event to do as a community – I love seeing everyone’s entries!
Hi River,
Glad you were able to get your entry in.
Great job on your make!
We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the giveaway.
Thank you for entering.
Thank you so much for this opportunity to create something for our dollies.. 💗💗
I made a necklace with the “Drink me” bottle from Alice in Wonderland. I’m a huge fan of this cartoon and I also love the Tim Burton’s live action. I created the same necklace for myself too and I decided to make one for my Alice.
Alice is a blythe that I customized.
The idea to make the necklace is completely mine and I didn’t use any design.
I hope you like it. 😊💙
Hi Sara,

I made a custom angelic bride Pullip~ her name is Sera 🙂 I didn’t use any tutorial, but the outfit was hand-made purchased from a local doll fair last weekend here in Taipei!

For May Dolly Makes, I decided to sew a retro-style dress for my Kenner, Maggie May.
I used the Blythe Basics Pattern from KristineAnns on Etsy, using the short-sleeved bodice version, and the basic knee-length skirt.
I altered the pattern a little to make a maxi-style dress, by lengthening the sleeves a bit and adding a frill to make them full-sleeve. I also added a lace-trimmed frill in a contrasting colour to the hem of the skirt, (to make the dress into maxi style), and also a pretty contrast braid for the waistband.
Finally, I made a matching headband of my own design, with lace trim and a small bow decoration, to complete the outfit!
