Do you have a pile of fabric scraps & feel guilty about tossing them away because it feels like you’re throwing money in the trash?
If so, then this Mon-DOLL Makes is for you!
As the New Year draws near, we wanted to find a project that would make use of the scrap fabric we’ve accumulated over the years.
We brainstormed several ideas that we could make using the scraps, like:
- Quilt
- Rug or
- Dog poop bag holder
Quilting seemed too time-consuming. The dog poop bag holder sounded interesting, but we wouldn’t know what to do with all the extra holders our fabric scraps would make. 😆
So we landed on making a rug for the dolls.
It seemed like a great project that would reduce our fabric stash!
And the best part?
No need to worry about the color palette because the final product will be a stunning, random rug.
We scoured the internet researching how to make a braided rug and after reviewing all the necessary steps and materials involved in making it, we realized we would need some dolly assistance.
Fortunately, Nina-chan stepped forward and volunteered to help us out.
We’re excited to braid the several feet of fabric, with Nina-chan’s help, and we can’t wait to see how the rug will turn out!

Ooh, what a lovely idea for fabric scraps! I usually cut up scraps and use them for stuffing. I think I’ll start saving longer pieces and give making a rag rug a try. It sounds like fun!
