Welcome to the 2nd allnurds Dolly Sewing Crush!

We are halfway through this month’s series.

Time sure flies when you’re having sew much fun. Cheesy pun, I know (●→‿ฺ←●)

Sit back and relax as we turn our attention to an outfit that your doll will enjoy lounging in.

This Month’s Sewing Motto: Mistakes Happen, But So Does Growth

Dolly Sewing Crush: allnurds Project #2

We are exploring a comfy yet stylish Big T-shirt from Doll Coordinate Recipe 13 Casual & Unisex on page 110.

In 10 steps your doll will have their new favorite T-shirt.

The directions for the Big T-shirt are written in Japanese.

There are no images to go with the directions, only an illustration with numbers that correspond to the steps.

Your Layout For Sewing Success

Steps 1-5 Making The T-shirt

This section involves sewing the shoulder seam of the shirt together, attaching the collar, hemming & attaching the sleeves to the shirt and sewing the sides.

We had trouble sewing the collar, the sewing lines we marked kept disappearing.

Once we used a better marking pen, the collar went on smoothly.

Steps 6-10 Finishing the Big T-shirt

These steps include sewing the hem of the shirt & side split, folding & top stitching a section of the center back, sewing the back close and attaching the closures.

Big T-shirt Completed 🙂
8 is excited his shirt is done!

Final Thoughts:

This project was a bit of a challenge because we used a dark fabric and our markings kept disappearing.

Tip: If you’re new to sewing with knits, I recommend using a light color fabric.

But overall, it’s a comfy shirt for any doll’s wardrobe!

8 loves the loose fit because it allows him to move around without restrictions.

8 looks so cute and comfy in this t-shirt! I can imagine him hanging around and doing all sorts of things in it, from climbing a tree to nestling on a comfy couch and reading.
