This week the Salon de Monbon journey is beginning to wind down.

Let’s jump right in and see what Momoko is wearing for us today!

This Month’s Sewing Motto: Mistakes Are The Path Towards Success

Dolly Sewing Crush: Salon de Monbon Project #3

Lately Momoko has been hinting about having cold feet.

We want to keep our model happy so we turned to page 122 in Doll’s Closet Seasons and found directions on how to make a lovely pair of High Socks.

In 8 steps, your doll will have a new pep in their steps thanks to these socks.

The directions for the High Socks are written in Japanese and include images so you can visually see the step by step instructions.

Your Layout For Sewing Success

Here is your blueprint for making the High Socks:

The High Socks

  • Fold & sew top edge
  • Fold sock in half
  • Sew along stitch line
  • Cut seam allowance
  • Turn sock right side out

Voilà the High Socks are done!

Final Thoughts:

These socks are soo cute!

We were surprised by how high they are on Momoko.

She adores them.

It’s a quick and easy project that you can make your own with embellishments!

    Hi River,

    I’ve been there too.

Socks look deceptively easy but they can be a bit tricky.

Things that I noticed that caused my socks to be tight was:

    • Sewing with an incorrect seam allowance, it was too wide.
    • Cutting the pattern on the direction of the fabric that wasn’t stretchy which caused the sock to be super tight and unable to put on the dolls leg. 🙁
    • And if I don’t fold the sock in half evenly or I’m dealing with knit fabric with edges that curl, the fit of my sock is thrown off

If you have additional questions don’t hesitate to ask 🙂

    So cute! <3
I heard socks are a good beginner project, but with the last pair I made, I somehow got the top hem slightly too small so they are difficult to put on. 🙁 Have you any tips for making the hem so it isn't too tight?

I love thigh-highs on dolls, it’s so cute!

The pair with lace looks totally pro!

      Thank you so much! <3

It was actually my 1st time sewing lace to a sock. 🙂

I purchased a sock PDF from Etsy years ago and referenced it for adding lace 🙂
