Happy July 1st!

This month the Dolly Sewing Crush will be geared towards boys’ outfits, with the exception of 1 week, when a lovely girl will be in the spotlight.

We are calling it The Dolly Sewing Crush F.L.C. Boy Edition.

We want to thank Neon for leaving a comment, which gave us the idea to feature more boy outfits

The doll designer leading us to making boy clothes, is none other than F.L.C.

You can checkout our previous F.L.C. Dolly Sewing Crush here.

It looks like 8 is ready to pose for you, meetcha below!

Dolly Sewing Crush: F.L.C. Boy Edition Project #1

8 likes to wear casual clothes but we wanted to push him out of his comfort zone, so for the 1st Boy Edition project, we grabbed the Treasured Doll Coordinate Recipe book and flipped to page 74.

And on this page, a pair of sharp looking Creased Pants, had 8’s name written all over them.

In 41 steps your doll will have a crisp pair of Creased Pants and a pep in his step.

The Creased Pants pattern fits dolls size:

  • 11 cm
  • 20 cm
  • 28 cm
  • 55 cm

The directions for the Creased Pants are written in Japanese and include images so you can visually see the step by step instructions.

Your Layout For Sewing Success

Here is your blueprint for making the Creased Pants:

The Back Pants

  • Sew back pants darts

The Front Pants

  • Clip pocket curve
    • Fold edges down & sew
  • Glue pockets in place
  • Sew crotch seam
    • Clip curve

The Pants

  • Sew side seams of back & front pants

The Waistband

  • Attach waistband to pants
  • Fold waistband down over the seam
    • Top stitch waistband

The Cuffs

  • Fold hem of pants to create cuffs
  • Sew the cuffs in 3 sections

The Pants

  • Sew the back seam
    • Clip curve
  • Attach hook & loop to back pants
  • Match inseam of pants & sew together
    • Clip seam
  • Fold pants & iron to create a crease

Yahoo, the Creased Pants are complete!

Final Thoughts:

8 is warming up to the idea of dressing up.

I love the design details F.L.C. delivers with each pattern, the cuffs make the pants look super realistic.

Dolly Insider Skill Level Rating:

Skill Level: 3 Sewing Pins

This pattern is straightforward.

But I ran into one tiny, tiny issue . . . the dreaded pocket and waistband combo.

For some reason, F.L.C. pockets and waistbands, baffle me.

I know the placement of the pocket has an effect on attaching the waistband, but I haven’t found the exact placement yet.

Fortunately, I was able to attach the waistband without having to start the whole project over, like I did with the F.L.C. Skirt pattern.

Can 8 expect to see you for the 2nd project?

Yaaay! More boys’ clothing! I’m super glad that you’re doing this (and to think that I’m the one to “blame”, teehee), some of my boys’ original stock is starting to fall apart, so they’ll need me to sew something new eventually, and any inspiration is welcome! I already have this book on wishlist 🙂

And I’m always happy to see the cute Eight!

8 is happy that he gets another opportunity to model 🙂

When you get the book, let us know.

We look forward to cheering you on and seeing your handsome guys.

It’s always a pleasure talking to you Neon!
